The international SPEC 2018 conference was held in Glasgow at the Technology and Innovation Centre from the 10-15th of June. The event was sponsored by CLIRSPEC, a society that aims to bring spectroscopic techniques into the clinic to aid in diagnosis and prognosis. This conference brings together professionals who seek to provide rapid, easy-to-use, minimally invasive chemical and structural analysis. This year’s conference was centered around pre-clinical and clinical applications of vibrational spectroscopy. As a member of CLIRSPEC, Dr Matthew J. Baker chaired the prestigious conference, whilst R&D Director Holly Butler presented an impromptu presentation on the progress of ClinSpec Dx towards clinical translation. Several other team members were involved, some of the 1 minute lightning talks as well as poster presentations.
