- Test Code:
- DXCB
- Test Name:
- Dxcover Brain
- CPT Codes:
- TBD- To be determined
- Methodology:
- Proprietary technology developed by Dxcover using an Attenuated Total Reflectance (ATR) - Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectrometer, coupled with a Dxcover® Autosampler; spectral data output is analyzed by the Dxcover® Brain Cancer Diagnostic Software.
- Department:
- Chemistry
- Specimen Type:
- Serum
- Specimen Container:
- Sarstedt S-Monovette® Serum Gel tubes with clotting activator/gel and brown-topped screw cap or BD Vacutainer® Serum Seperated Tubes
- Specimen Volume:
- 0.5uL-1.5uL Serum (minimum 0.5uL)
- Specimen Stability:
-
- Ambient (15°C-25°C): 8 hours
- Refrigerated (+2 – +8°C): 24 hours
- Frozen (-80)°C: 30 days
- Specimen Preparation:
-
Freshy drawn specimens must be stored refrigerated (+2 – +8°C) and left upright for at least 30 minutes (up to a maximum of 24 hours from the time of blood collection) before centrifugation.
Specimens should be centrifuged at a minimum centrifugal speed of 2200 x g for 15 minutes. Serum should be distributed into 1 aliquot in the provided 2mL cryovial with proper identification. Follow manufacturer’s instructions for collection tube handling.
- Storage/Transport Temperature:
- Frozen (Ice packs or dry ice packaging must be used to maintain the sample frozen during transport.)
- Unacceptable Conditions:
- Non-frozen serum; Plasma samples; Whole blood samples; Incorrect specimen container (i.e., not a 2mL cryovial) (e.g., microcentrifuge tube, conical tube); Damaged or compromised 2mL cryovial (e.g., cracked vial, loose screwcap); Quantity not sufficient
- Additional Notes:
-
Patients must have symptoms commonly associated with brain cancer (e.g., headache, migraine, memory loss etc.).
Test results will be: Elevated Risk or Low Risk
- Elevated Risk:
- This result indicates detection of blood-based spectral features associated with an elevated risk of brain cancer relative to the test’s validated classification threshold. Timely adjunctive clinical and diagnostic assessments are recommended.
- Low Risk:
- This result indicates that blood-based spectral features associated with brain cancer were not detected above the test’s validated classification threshold.
- Test Not Performed:
- Unable to provide a result, resubmit new specimen for analysis.
- Turn Around Time:
- 1-3 Business Days (upon receipt of the specimen)
